Some people are perfectly happy to sit in an office all day and just get their head down and do some work. But if you’re an extrovert and you like interacting with other people, that’s not the ideal way of working for you. You’ll get bored easily if you can’t be active and social with other people during the work day. A lot of jobs don’t really offer that opportunity and they’re more focused around solitary work, but there are plenty of careers that are built around your ability to interact with other people. These are some of the best career options for extroverts.
Sales is the kind of job that some people will love and some people will hate. A lot of people can’t stand the idea of calling people up on the phone and talking to them all day, but if you’re a very sociable person, it’s ideal for you. You need a lot of confidence and the ability to build a good relationship with people from all different walks of life. Those are all qualities that you’ll find in an extrovert. You can land a phone sales job without too much experience as long as you can show your potential employer that you have the enthusiasm and people skills necessary to be a good salesperson. There are also some great positions available for travelling salespeople which is ideal if you hate the idea of being stuck in an office all day and you’d rather get out and meet people.
Social workers are a vital part of the community that help people to deal with a whole range of issues. You’ll meet a cross section of people and spend time with them on a regular basis, offering whatever assistance they may need. If you want to be a social worker, you’re going to deal with a lot of difficult situations so you do need proper training first. You could go to college full time and get a degree but if you’re looking to switch careers later in life, that’s not always a viable option. However, you can get a masters in social work online accredited in your own time. That means you can continue working at your current job while you get qualified, which makes switching careers a lot easier. If you are going to pursue a career in social work, you need to ask yourself whether you’re really cut out for it because there is a big emotional burden to bear and some people just can’t deal with that.
The finance industry doesn’t immediately spring to mind when people think about careers that are well suited to extroverts. A lot of jobs in the finance world can be quite solitary but if you like to spend your days meeting with a lot of different people, becoming a financial advisor is a good option. It’ll be your job to help all sorts of different people manage their finances and invest their money. You’ll need a degree in finance or business if you’re going to go down this path but once you’re qualified, you can look for work with an existing business or even start your own. However, if you’re not a fan of paperwork, it’s probably not the right career choice for you.
If you hate the idea of being stuck in an office on your own all day, why not consider switching to one of these great careers that are ideal for extroverts?
