OK, so listening to music when working out isn’t exactly a new concept however being able to understand the benefits it has and why it helps with your work isn’t something that we're all aware of.
Research suggests that listening to music while exercising, helps to distract us and ultimately we put more effort into it than if we weren’t listening. Not only does just listening to music help improve the standard of your work out it also helps keep us motivated and on track, especially when you focus on the style of music you are listening to.

There is of course more to it than it just being a distraction however it’s been proven that when listening to music people are less aware of their exertion and therefore are able to complete a harder level of exercise than without. It can increase your levels of exercise and effort you’re putting by as much as fifteen percent. Definitely something worth trying if you’re struggling to get past a certain fitness level. The faster the better, as upbeat music has more for our brain to compute and therefore works as the best distraction. So, what are you waiting for? Get onto your iCloud music library on Mac and start choosing some good music for your next work out session.
Studies in 2010 discovered that cyclists work harder when listening to faster music compared to the music of a slower tempo. This doesn't mean that you should be looking for all the fastest songs possible though. Looking for music that sits around 120 to 140 beats per minute is ideal for working out so you should aim to stick with theses. Music is a fantastic way for even beginners to start with a good amount of effort.

Nearly everyone has certain songs that seem to focus you or put you in the ‘zone’. Whether it’s working at home, cleaning the house or exercising normally people will have a song or a few that really take their mind off things and allow them to concentrate. Often feeling the emotions from a song or really getting into the beat helps to improve your physical performance.
When you’re completing exercises such as cycling, walking or running your normally want to set yourself a pace and stick to it. Whether you're out and about or in the gym, using music to set the pace is really useful. Using music as time signals for increasing your effort for a burst of time is another great way to make use of your tunes.
If your someone who gets a little down about working out and really need a boost of good feeling to get going then listening to music through your wireless headphones could be what you need. Music has the capability of making you feel good about yourself and really lifts your mood when exercising. There’s a reason they have music playing in the gym.
