Find a Partner

If you want to start exercising during your lunch hours, having a colleague as your gym partner is a great way to keep yourself motivated and continuously go back to the gym. Not only does a partner help keep you committed but it also has been shown to make you work harder at the gym. If you’re unable to find a colleague available, look for a friend or a family member who is interested in accomplishing the same goals that you have.

Always be Prepared

Packing a gym bag with all the necessities for a successful workout at the gym seems like a no brainer, but surprisingly, many people forget to do this. This tends to make a huge difference as to whether people go to the gym at all.

This is especially important if you plan to go during your lunch hour. Having all the necessities packed such as a change of socks, trousers, a clean shirt, and toiletries will make your transition back into the office as easy as possible.

Do Different Forms of Exercise

It’s easy for anyone to get bored and lose their motivation if they’re doing the same kinds of exercise day after day. Mixing up your workouts is a key way to keep yourself interested. This can be accomplished by signing up a workout class like spinning or yoga.

If you’re interested in getting involved with running, mix up your run by skipping the treadmill and opt for a run on a trail instead.

My wife and I get up and run at 5:30 in the mornings. We are both early retired and FI but we still set the alarm and run with friends. None of them have a 9 t0 5 but all of us keep the same run time we set when we did and we had to be at work by 8AM. Like you said above the group keeps us accountable and the social aspect makes it more fun when it is like single digit windchill!
