So, You Just Tied the Knot! Now What?

Things You Should Do After Your Wedding

Weeks after all the wedding fun is done, you’d think you can finally chill and enjoy this new chapter in your life. Now it’s time to look through lists of house and lot packages, whether in the more laid back suburbs like Tanza or in busy cities like Makati, and find the perfect love nest for you and your new spouse. But, before getting into the big stuff, you need to handle all the little things first.

Send out some nice thank you notes

The thought of having to write hundreds of personalized thank you notes may not be the most appealing, but doing so is all in keeping with proper wedding etiquette. While the rule of thumb is to send those pretty notes out within a year of marriage, many people feel that it is best to send them out within three months after you’re back from your honeymoon-the sooner the better, when it comes to expressing your gratitude. To prevent all the other responsibilities and things you have to deal with as a new couple from piling up, apply this strategy: divide and conquer. Use thank you message templates as inspiration and set aside 15 minutes of your day writing those thank-you notes and you’ll probably be able to finish 10 per day. Stick to that schedule and you’ll be done before your second month anniversary. Pop a bottle of wine and do the task together.

Get your precious wedding dress cleaned and preserved

A lot of brides want to keep their dresses for posterity. Many of them can get really sentimental about this piece of clothing, and others even consider letting their daughters use or repurpose the same dress for their own weddings. If that’s something that appeals to you, you need to get your dress professionally clean as soon as you can. It’s better to deal with this straightaway, before stains and smells settle in the fabric, making them more difficult to remove. Years later, when you want to reminisce about how beautiful you looked walking down the aisle, you’d want to feel confident that when you pull out that dress, it will still look amazing and not soiled with old sweat and champagne stains.

Give your vendors some nice reviews

It’s not an exaggeration to say that it literally took a village to make your wedding happen. There were numerous people responsible for making your special day feel and look so magical. So, the best way to return the favor is to post some great reviews about their services on Yelp, wedding boards, or on their actual social media pages. Keep this mind: you’re not only doing this to show your gratitude, but you’re also trying to help other soon-to-be brides and grooms find the best wedding planner, makeup artist, florist, and wedding videographer, among others.

You’re probably still riding on that post-wedding or honeymoon high-as you should be. But, if you take care of the things listed above within the first few months as newlyweds, you’ll enjoy your time together without those details bugging you or bogging you down.
