This Is Why All Life Coaches Must Have A Blog

Are you a life coach? Do you blog?

No matter if you’re a seasoned life coach or you’re just starting out, you need to have an established online presence to showcase your expertise. If you’re not communicating with potential clients in some way online, you are truly missing out on thousands of dollars of income per week, per month, and per year!

Before I continue on, I already know what some of you are thinking. But, Dave, I’m in Facebook groups, I tweet, I engage on LinkedIn, and I comment on websites. Isn’t that enough?

I wish I could say yes. I’m sure you and others do well by only focusing on social media and other sites. But, it’s not enough just to post a message here and there and call it lead generation. You need to be much more proactive

Quite frankly — you need to be a content creator. And the easiest way to get started is with your own blog.

Let’s explore the reasons why you as a life coach need a blog. Then, I’ll share with you a way you can get started today.

You can use your blog as a lead generation tool and create additional income streams

If you design your blog the right way, it can do two crucial things for your business. For starters, you can use it as a way to add people to your email list. While they may not be a coaching client right away, chances are a percentage of people will use your coaching services as you provide them with excellent, helpful content.

Secondly, your blog can be used to generate more income. A few of the simple ways are advertising and sponsored content. But, in addition to showcasing your coaching services, your blog can house a membership site, a paid forum, free and paid classes, a podcast, video content, and so much more.

You can package services, courses, and other digital products in whatever way you want. Sure, you can still coaching clients face-to-face, over the phone, or through live video. However, you also get the added benefit of earning money on products you only create once.

Generate leads and more income with a blog.  Not a bad deal.

You own the platform and can control the content

Did you ever realize that your Facebook profile isn’t yours? Sure, the photos of you and your family, the “friends” you’ve made on there, and your birth date are all part of who you are. But, the fact that they’re on Facebook’s servers is a whole different story.

You don’t own that content. Facebook does.

You don’t own that tweet or pin. Twitter and Pinterest do, respectively.

If you’re writing on a place like Medium or Blogger, you do NOT own the content. Those companies do.

So, where does that leave you with respect to reaching clients online? Well, you need a place that’s yours.

This is where having your own blog with a dedicated host comes into play. I say go with WordPress as it’s my favorite blog platform and the one I use for Run The Money, Financial Bin, and Parents Who Profit.

To launch that blog, though, you need dedicated hosting. It’s just how Facebook would do it, but this time it’s YOUR servers.

You can set up a web host pretty easily. Check out my Bluehost and SiteGround tutorials to get started.

You need to put yourself out there and do the hard work

The days of throwing stuff up on the Internet and getting easy, cheap traffic are relatively over. Some people had success with free traffic using Pinterest over the last few years, but it still takes work.

Getting your content on social media should be one part of your game plan. The other should be having a “home base” for your content that houses all of your blog posts, videos, images, and more.

Your blog is an opportunity for you to connect with your prospective clients and readers on a much deeper level. You can provide more detail on certain areas that allow others to resonate with your thoughts on a particular subject.

Plus, people like when we’re vulnerable. With a blog, you get to do just that. Whether it be the written word or video, your potential coaching clients will love getting to know the real you.

You display your knowledge and position yourself as an expert

Nothing positions you like an expert better than a blog. Sure, you can become a popular YouTube or Instagram star or write for an outlet like Forbes (like I did), but unless you’re a celebrity, a blog is really where you can display your knowledge the best.

Showcase your coaching talents. Talk about the interesting ways you’ve helped people. Discuss why you believe a certain topic in life coaching is taboo. Whatever it is, you are able to give people a glimpse into your experience — and even your life.

Your readers will turn into clients who will turn into loyal, raving fans. That’s what you want. You’re building not just a coaching practice, but a following.

Think about what interests people the most and what they really need help with. Then, construct content over the course of days, weeks, and months to hit those target pain points and start solving some problems for others.

That’s really how you take your life coaching practice to the next level. Just think the potential for your business in terms of helping others and increasing your income.

Now that’s something worth writing about!

I totally agree. Especially for those coaches who aren’t really known yet but are amazing. Blogging is the perfect medium for them to let those amazing ideas out whenever they want. Anyways, great points!
