Can gamblers make a lot of money

Many people around the world love gambling. But they also know that the odds are always favorites of the house. It seems almost irrational to think that an ordinary person could make a large sum of money, let alone a salary, from gambling.

And yet, many people still dream of being able to make money from gambling. After all, it’s fun and much more exciting than most typical jobs.

Though the idea may seem far-fetched, making money from gambling may actually be more feasible than people think. But it will take time to learn the ropes and develop the skills that will allow you to start raking in the cash.

Being a High Roller

If you’re a gambling fan at all, you’ve probably heard of a few special gamblers that have made a name for themselves. You might’ve even seen the movie, High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story. It was a biopic that delved into the life of one of the most notorious is Stu Ungar, a New York native born in the 1950s who later on in life became renowned in the poker world.

But Ungar didn’t just make lots of money from poker, he was a professional. Ungar even won the World Series of Poker Main Event three times in his life.

There are also many stories people hitting the jackpot on slot machines, becoming millionaires overnight. A lucky few have even won the jackpot multiple times.

But the question you might be asking yourself, is “How do I become like these famous, money-making gamblers?”

You can’t really become a slot jackpot winner by intention. Slot machines are almost entirely based on chance. You’d have to pick exactly the right slot machine and be on the exact round that wins in order to cash in on those multi-million dollar jackpots.

And on top of that, there’s not much you can really do to help yourself hit that jackpot. What you can do, however, is figure out which slot machines have a higher payout ratio and lower house edges.

This will at least help you stay away from money-leeching machines and up your chances of making a profit.

Poker is America?

But now, what about people like Stu Ungar?

Poker is one of the most common games that people make money. A writer at the New York Times even made the bold statement that “Poker is America.”

And what makes poker so great for making money is that it’s the kind of game that you can get better at and work on. So this means that if you have the skill for it, you can pretty much ensure that you’ll make money from it.

This is because poker is skill and strategy based. The more you play, the more you develop skills like reading people and bluffing that can help you figure out what other players are thinking and make better decisions for yourself.

Take it from Doyle Brunson. According to Gambling News Magazine, Brunson won the World Series of Poker championship twice in a row, his skills being on par with that of Stu Ungar’s.

If you look at Brunson’s long history of championship wins, you can really get a glimpse of the amount of money you could be making from poker. Some games he won a couple thousand, and others over a million. And most of his wins were well within the hundred thousand.

People like Doyle Brunson and Stu Ungar spent their whole lives dedicated to poker. But you don’t have to spend decades building up the skill. There are millionaire poker players that are well under 30, like Fedor Holz who is 26 years old.

Holz is a popular professional poker player from Germany. By his 24th birthday, Holz had only been playing poker for about four of five years. And by then, he had already made a total of $23.3 million from tournaments.

To make that kind of money, tournaments seem to be the place to go. But entering a tournament for the first time can be intimidating.

I mean how does one build up the confidence or even the skill to be considered in something like the World Series?

Rise of Online Gambling

Back in the days of Ungar and Brunson, you had to go to the casino and practice and put yourself out there. But nowadays, you might not even need to leave your bedroom.

In the last few decades, online casinos have flourished. Now, you can access practically any kind of gambling game you want just by getting online. Websites have everything from slots to poker.

But there is one limitation – you still need to make sure gambling is legal in your state.

If gambling is legal, wherever you are, then there’s no need to worry. You can just hop on your laptop or mobile device and have at it.

One place where you can get the best online poker offers is They not only have amazing casinos, but they also have unbelievable deals, so that you don’t have to lose so much money when you’re first starting out.

Playing online poker will help you develop your skills while you’re having a good time.

But one thing that’s good to remember is that online poker is a bit different from in-person poker. So, if you learn online, you might need a couple of other skills before heading out to an in-person tournament.

However, there are also online tournaments that you can participate in. They’ll make your face off with other people from all around the world.

According to Gamblers Daily Digest, there are many details that even amateur video poker players make. Video poker is kind of like a cross between online gambling and in-person poker tables. It’s digital but available inside casinos.

You should read their tips to help reduce the house edge and improve your chances of making money. Many of the strategies learned in video poker can also be applied to online poker tournaments. But it’ll still take time to get used to any form of poker – you just need to practice.

So, if you were ever skeptical about whether or not gamblers can make money, the short answer is, yes! But not everyone can make millions from gambling. You have to really know your stuff if you want to get to that level.

But it’s not impossible. With practice and proper training, you can develop the skills and build the strategy to eventually complete in worldwide tournaments, crushing your opponents and taking home the grand prize.
